Tropel: Mexican traditions transposed into objects of contemporary design

Part of the complex and colorful universe of flavors & colors of Mexico is centralized in the collection "Los Wixarika", signed by Tropel, a brand that tries to translate into the key contemporary the vibrant traditions of Mexican culture.

Passed through the creative crucible, all these transform into various objects, from jewelry, bags, prints, to textiles. For the aforementioned collection, which contains four unique items, Tropel collaborated with Maurilio Renteria, a talented representative of the Wixarika community (indigenous population living in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain area. of Mexico).

The silhouettes of the objects were inspired, in this case, by the peyote plant, used in ceremonial rituals by the pre-Hispanic community or by the deer deer, one of the most significant in the Wixarika religion, being made by Tropel. To all this, the artist Maurilio Renteria added the craft of bead twining and weaving.

The Wixariya or Huichol community is known for its ancient craftsmanship of fabrics and embroideries with colored beads, with symbolism inspired by the kingdom and religious sphere.

A todo esto, el artista Maurilio Rentería agregó el arte de entrelazar y tejer cuentas. La comunidad wixariya o huichol es conocida por su antigua artesanía de telas y bordados con cuentas de colores, con simbolismo inspirado en el reino y la esfera religiosa.
